This car was just purchased by one of our customers in New York. It has been sitting quietly since the mid seventies in a garage in New Jersey for over thirty years. The car has some significant body issues but in general is one of the most remarkably original cars we have ever seen. The frame and understructure are in phenomenal shape. The surface rust on the exterior of the car is substantial, but correctable.
Even the original top has survived all of these years. Now looking a bit closer at some of the body issues we see a few more problems!
Once we were given the OK by the customer, we began our diagnosis to determine if the motor was going to have to come out are not. We quickly discovered that the motor was seized and needed to come out for refurbishing. This was not unexpected, but even if it was free, it is the safe thing to do. In the pictures below you can see the penetrating oil still sitting on top of the pistons. It never soaked past the rings, so its time to pull the block and drive the pistons out!
After the block was removed and before we could take it to the machine shop , we had to remove the pistons which were seized.

This is the aftermath.
